Nightmare Escape Dream Jumper Book 1 Greg Grunberg Lucas Turnbloom 9780545826044 Books Reviews

  • Bought for my soon to be 12 year old son. He HATES to read but I thought he would enjoy the story IF I could get him to read it. Once he saw the book on the table he picked it up and said the cover was cool. He flipped through it and saw it was not a chapter book and immediately started to read it. He finished it in 40 minutes and asked for the second book. He enjoyed the story line especially the ending and he can't wait to read the second book. He has never had this reaction towards any book or reading. Hope the second book comes out soon.
  • In Dream Jumper Nightmare Escape Ben learns that he has a gift. He can jump into the dream world and see other people’s dreams. When Kaylee (his not girlfriend), falls into sub-rem sleep and can’t wake up, Ben decides he must find a way to save her. While asleep, Ben meets Lewis, a mysterious rabbit who helps him fight evil forces in the dream world.

There are currently two books in the Dream Jumper series. The idea for this series came from a dream that author (and actor) Greg Grunberg’s son had. The drawings are bright and cinematic feeling. They match perfectly with the story’s sense of adventure and mystery.

I really enjoyed this one. The concept reminds me of the Freddy Kruger movies, but this is much tamer - meant for the younger set. Ben is a great character and I really like him. I will try to read the second book too. I also think I will suggest we add this to our elementary school library.
  • I bought this for my 10-year old cousin who lets face it is a boy who doesn't like to read. He loves this and can't wait for more books. It's an easy read with bright brilliant photos, great story for those kids who like things a little dark... it's exciting and not scary. Let's face it, I can't wait to buy more books for him and can't wait to see what happens myself.
  • I'm 53 years old, and I LOVED this book! The art and writing are both top notch!
Lucas Turnbloom is one of my favorite comic strip artists/writers. Any adults who like this book should check out his strip "Imagine This." (Not sure some parents would want their kids reading it, as it's dark and twisted, like "Pearls Before Swine.") But it's RIDICULOUSLY funny!
  • This book is very entertaining and tells a great story. The artwork is also well done. I like that the plot was inspired by the author's son. Mr. Grunberg is a literary genius as he is very creative and has come up with a great plot!
  • I ordered this for my class. Each and every one of my students has read it now, and they love it!!!! They want it to be made into a movie )
  • My son said, he likes the book, "really good"!
  • This was a gift for a little boy who loves to read. He loved it.
