- Sometimes you just need a real paper book! I also purchased the version, but without the pictures, index, maps... it was of little use. This is the way to go for a travel guide. You can pull out the sections you need for the cities/areas you will visit, and leave the bulk at home. You can take notes, dog-ear pages, use your highlighter, map out your daily plans.
- Seriously lacking in detailed information. For example, the section on Toledo, which was titled Toledo and Trips from Madrid, gave practically no information on Toledo. It kept referring to other excursions around the Madrid area. We tried to use this book on a road trip from Salamanca to the northwest coast, across the northern coastline, down to the Pyrenees to Cordoba and then back up to Toledo and Segovia, but we gave up using it part of the way through. This is partly because the book is really geared toward the traveler who has a week or 10 days flying into Madrid and then taking a train or bus to another major city, not someone who rents a car and tries to see the out-of-the way places.
I would have appreciated more details about the culture in general, but there are some good summaries of the history of Spain that helped. - The print on this book is much too small to read, even with my reading glasses. I guess Spain is a big place and they wanted to cram in a lot of information. However, it didn’t help. I was going on the Camino de Santiago walk and wanted info on it, but it was very scanty in this book. I should have returned it, but by the time I got back from Spain, it was too late. I didn’t take it because it wasn’t that helpful, and the print was just too small.
- Fodor's has really improved their game. From a middle of the road boring guide for first timers, it now offers a variety of information, that is more sophisticated. We have been visiting Spain since 1972 and are familiar with all the guides, and we are pleased this has improved so much.
- Chock full of good traveler information in all parts of Spain
- Since we are mainly traveling to Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca, I found the limited information about this area. On the other hand, the information about Barcelona and Malaga is better.
- Very useful and informative. Even for us, that have visited Spain several times, has plenty of new information and tips for planning a new trip.
