The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements With Big Beautiful Photographs of All 118 Elements in the Periodic Table Theodore Gray 8601404349171 Books Reviews
- A wealth of information in 126 cards, The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements is a necessity for any person that loves (or hates) science. The front of each card contains its element's atomic number, atomic weight, atomic symbol and name, as well as beautiful imagery associated with the element. On the back of the card, you can find a plethora of valuable information from density and melting/boiling points to electron shells and atomic radius. Theodore Gray also includes interesting facts about each of the 118 elements, helping the reader to relate the atom to something a little bit more tangible. I would venture to say that you probably don't know much about neodymium, but Gray helps us understand why it is important to us -
"Discovered 1885 in Austria
Neodymium-iron-boron alloys are the basis for the most powerful permanent magnets, used in headphones, disk drives, and motors, and commonly known as neodymium magnets or rare earth magnets."
Without this element, your computer would not be able to store information for your use! These reference cards will be worth their weight in gold for any high school or college student and I highly recommend it for any person that loves to learn! The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements Flashcards With Big Beautiful Photographs of All 118 Elements in the Periodic Table eliminates the time it takes to pile through books and webpages by placing relevant technical and usage information on easy and fun to read reference cards. - Wow these cards are beautiful! I bought these to teach the periodic table to my 5 year old. They are functional and we are just scrolling through first learning the abbreviations. If you are interested but aren't sure, I can only say that they are worth the money. Durable, large, and fully functional in terms of information provided. Make sure you buy a large poster with the tables so that you can also teach placement. It comes with diagrams on the cards only.
- My nephew has two copies of the The Elements book, so I thought the flashcards would be fun. Not so much. He was excited to get them, but the book is more mobile and can be used for reading in bed and taking into restaurants. I'm thinking of bringing the box into the car...maybe in the contained environment they will get more use. The cards are beautiful and bright...these could easily be used for educational games.
- Got these for my 9th grade daughter, who wants to be a chemist. She loves them, and is using them to memorize the table of elements. The cards are beautifully made with full-color graphic photos and interesting, clever notes. This is a great way to keep kids interested in learning about the elements!!
- My students and I really like these cards. We made a giant periodic table on the wall with them. It wasn't super easy to do but pretty fun. A card or two falls down from time to time but we just put them back up.
- I just simply added some magnetic backing and made a HUGE periodic table on my magnetic marker board!! Kids loved this!!
- This set is very nice. Lots of fascinating information and technical data on each element. The photos are brilliant and the inclusion of newly discovered elements about which little is know is tantalizing. Sadly, such a collection can’t help but be dated in its limited inclusion of new and exclusion of yet known elements. But the core of this set is solid and absolutely worth owning.
Strongly recommended for those with an interest in the subject, or as study cards for students. - A gift for my autistic 12 year old granddaughter who is smarter than me. I bought her another set of these on the universe and she can look at them for hours. She is a great little reader and stays very focused in what these cards say. I will continue to buy these for her.
